PROJECT OVERVIEW
Legacy Is Forever is a limited-edition collaboration between Makita and Admiral Sportswear, celebrating the Makita International Tournament — the Wembley summer competition that brought together some of Europe’s biggest clubs between 1989 and 1994. The collaboration reinterpreted that history through a contemporary football shirt, with only 150 individually numbered pieces produced.
Working as part of the campaign at Makita UK, I developed the creative surrounding the shirt and helped turn the release into a wider collector experience. My work included the trading cards, collector’s box, certificate of authenticity, sticker collection and social content — creating a consistent visual language across the physical and digital touchpoints of the launch.
The supporting pieces drew from the visual culture of late-80s and early-90s football while keeping the execution contemporary. Each shirt was presented alongside a wider collection of memorabilia, including two trading cards and a 16-piece sticker set, with selected packs containing ultra-rare cards signed by Martin Keown, Kris Boyd, Clinton Morrison and Dean Saunders. The result was designed to make the collaboration feel like more than merchandise: a limited piece of football culture built around memory, nostalgia and the idea that Legacy Is Forever.
